OLD HABERDASHERS RUGBY CLUB

Ever since the founding of the mighty blue, white and magentas in 1923, countless lovers of the odd-shaped ball have experienced much pleasure (and some pain) representing OHRFC at the Fortress Croxdale Road.

Originally comprising former pupils from Haberdashers’ Aske’s School in north London (and now in Elstree), the club has strengthened its numbers in the last few decades, welcoming local players, friends of members and a network of young professionals from various unis like Warwick and Sheffield, who have been attracted by the unique on and off field mix of adventurous rugby, indomitable spirit, joyous socials and legendary Tours.

The Club also retains links with a hotbed of fairly decent rugby, known as the Southern Hemisphere, with select players from Australia and New Zealand hypnotised by the essence and togetherness of the club - indeed this relationship has become a bit of tradition for the OHRFC, with relatives and 2nd generations heading our way, as they venture across the globe.

With its ground and “the best traditional rugby clubhouse in London” (an opposition President’s words, not mine) in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, the Club currently fields two teams.

The 1XV plays in London 1 North League, the highest position that it has ever attained and the 2XV plays in Herts/Middlesex Merit Premier League.

We strive to maintain a fierce commitment to enjoyment on and off the pitch, and have a full fixture list and social calendar for nine months of the year. We do not train during the season due to the age-old issue of players making training twice a week when working and living south of the river or east of the City, but (most) players take responsibility for their own fitness work either independently or with other members of the club and this unique 'no train, no coach’ policy has in fact become our trademark, our USP and the envy of many more richly-funded and resourced clubs playing at our level.

Put simply, there is no better place to play and enjoy your rugby in London.
